Discover in video (fr)

With the tools developped by Trace de Trail, you are able to improve your track by readjusting it automatically on the charted trails, with the use of the IGN or OSM database.

How to do so?

  1. Open the track you want to improve
  2. Select the "calculated route" tool  and the appropriate database (IGN or OSM and the waytype in Step 1)
  3. Position yourself at the beginning of the part you want to improve (be careful of being on a part charted by IGN or OSM, according to what you chose).
  4. Right click > "Insert an active calculation point"
  5. Position yourself at the end of the part you want to improve > Right click > "Insert an active calculation point

The section will automatically readjust to the charted path or track. Its color will turn red.

Dealing with the alternance of charted and uncharted paths

If the part you want to edit is using an itinerary with uncharted paths, it is necessary to exclude the uncharted part from the calculated route. To do so:

  1. Use the calculated route tool until the beginning of the uncharted section
  2. At the end of the uncharted section: right click > "Add an inactive calculation point"
  3. When you are back on a charted path, you can continue with adding active calculation points.
2. Shortcut part of a track
Subscribers

With this tool, you are able to replace an existing section by another smaller section.

How to do so?

1. Position yourself on the section that you want to change

2. Choose the " Shortcut the track" tool

3. Draw a line that crosses your track at the start and the end point of the part you want to replace

4. Click on the last point of your line again to shortcut the track

Once your track is shortcut, a straight line will appear between the two points you created to cut the track. You can now readjust this new section point by point or using the calculated route tool.

3. Copy part of a track to paste it on another track
Subscribers

With the Trace de Trail tools, you have the possibility to copy part of a track to paste it on another track. Two tools can be used to do this:

1st case - Import a draft at the end of a track

This tool allows you to insert an existing part at the end of the track you're currently editing.

How to use it?

  1. Open the existing track which has a section you want to copy
  2. Choose the "Save portion as a draft" tool
  3. Mark off the section you want to copy by tracing a line that crosses it at two different points (start and end) and double click on the last point of that line
  4. Go back to the track you're currently editing
  5. Select the "Import my draft" tool > the copied section will automatically insert itself on the track

2nd case - Shortcut a track with a draft

With this tool, you can insert an existing section in the middle of the track you're currently editing

How to do so?

  1. "Save a portion as a draft" from an existing track
  2. Open the edit menu on the track on which you want to import the saved section
  3. Select the "Shortcut with my draft" tool
  4. Position yourself on the track, at the point where you want to insert your draft
  5. Draw a line that crosses the track at two specific points (beginning and end) where you want to insert your draft
  6. Click again on the last point of the line to apply the change

The draft inserts itself automatically where you specificied it

4. Changing the starting point
Premium and Premium Pro subscribers only

With the "Move the starting point" tool, you have the possibility to change the location of your starting point. Select it and click on an existing point in your track where you want to move it to. There you go! Optimize the elevation profile and save your track.

5. Changing the direction of the track

With the "Reverse the track" tool, your starting point becomes your finish point and vice-versa. Just click on it and optimize the elevation profile before saving your track.

6. Crop the track
Subscribers

If you wish to shorten your track, select the "Crop the track" tool then draw a line that cuts the route at the point where you want to stop it. The rest of your track will disappear.
